| Information | This is a jail site where more than 30 foreign missionaries were imprisoned from 1617 for 5 years.
The cell looked like a bird cage, all sides made of bamboo sticks. The size was only 6.6m by 4.6m, with which the missionaries could not lie down, or even move. Two died in jail, and Father Spinola and other 25 missionaries were sent to Nagasaki in September 1622, and died on Sep.10 in Nishizaka. Father Franco and other 8 died in Hokobaru on Sep.12. |
