The Portugese, who wanted to have a port in Christian-friendly Omura, started looking for another port. First they came to Fukuda, and looking for the better port, they finally arrived in Nagasaki. In 1571, Sumitada opened Nagasaki Port, which became the main site of Nanban Trade. Later, Thanks to Sumitada's arrangement, Nagasaki and Mogi were ceded to the Society of Jesus, for the sake of their safety from other neighboring daimyos and the establishment of these ports. |
